Systems for clinics and medical practices in Costa Rica
Online appointments, electronic health records, telemedicine, and automatic WhatsApp reminders.
We build systems for private clinics, independent practices, and specialty centers in Costa Rica. The difference vs generic medical software: HIPAA compliance if you handle US patients, end-to-end encryption for sensitive data, and a panel designed so the doctor does not need an assistant to operate it. We bill per deliverable; the system is yours from day 1.

07/Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Does the system comply with the Costa Rica Data Protection Law?▾
Yes. We implement Law 8968 requirements (Personal Data Protection): explicit patient consent, encryption at rest and in transit, right to be forgotten (data deletion on demand), and auditable access logs. We provide Prodhab-ready documentation in case of an audit.
When do I need HIPAA compliance?▾
Only if you handle clinical data of US patients or if a US insurer requires it. HIPAA is US federal law, not applicable to Tico patients. If you need it, the add-on module costs USD 2,000 – 4,000 and includes vendor BAAs, audit logs, E2E encryption, and breach notification policies.
Can you integrate my current lab (LabSur, Clínica Bíblica, etc.)?▾
If the lab has an API or login portal, yes. We quote USD 1,500 – 3,500 depending on complexity. For labs with no API, we integrate via email/PDF parsed with AI — cheaper but less reliable.
How much do automatic reminders reduce no-shows?▾
Between 40% and 70% across our cases. The 24h reminder catches the forgetful patient; the 1h reminder catches the running-late one. Combined with a "confirm/cancel" button in WhatsApp, no-shows drop dramatically. A practice losing USD 800/mo in no-shows can recover USD 6,000/year.
Does telemedicine require a special license?▾
In Costa Rica, the Medical Association allows remote consultations with identified patients and prior consent. No additional license is required but there are ethical guidelines. We build the system meeting those: patient identification, recorded consent, file with logged session. Video uses Daily or Twilio, both HIPAA-ready if needed.
Who owns the clinical data?▾
The patient legally (Law 8968), but the custodian is the clinic. The system code and database live in YOUR Supabase, Stripe, etc. accounts. If you decide to switch vendors, you export all your data in standard formats (CSV, FHIR if you want) without our permission.
